Hi guys!! I've been a member of Glencoe for about a year and a half, starting two weeks after Abbey Medieval Festival in 2011. We are a small-ish group of around a dozen members who regularly attend events, and a total of about 30 members on the books.

We are based in the Toowoomba, QLD area; our main meetings being held at the home of the man who runs the group, out in Kingsthorpe (small town about 10min drive past the Toowoomba outskirts)

Our group focuses on Europe, with the current eastern boundary being roughly around Italy; though I know that a previous members' persona had been a Saracen. Our groups time period is between the 10th to 16th century (900ad-1599ad), and currently contains a mixture of cultures and time periods; from a Viking up to 14thC nobility

Our group displays both combat (mostly focusing on single, or small-numbers of combat; not so much general warfare), as well as various crafts including leatherwork, blacksmithing, and the like. We generally provide all of this in a general display including tents, a cooking fire, and general medieval culture
Your group sounds good Edward.

Personally I like groups that can have a wider focus for their members.

I'm not chipping the single focus groups , but in my experience the room to move and try new things in different areas and periods does help keep clubs together and prevents members from getting stale.

Cheers

it is quite not a bad group; the range of time periods help diversify things a great deal, allowing people to play what they want, also..

It also helps get and keep members, in an area where there aren't a lot of folk too interested in our sort of thing; a mild curiousity, yes.. but generally not /too/interested
I know your pain with the interest thing. Luckily we have neighbour groups not too far away to play sword with :-)
