It is with a heavy heart that I once again give notice that my club, The Blue Company Historical Entertainers have been blocked from attending this years Gumeracha Medieval Fair here in South Australia. Upon submission of our completed expression of interest, this was the organising committee's response ''We have had an extraordinary number of applications for Craft, Food, Entertainment and Group sites both from last year and this year. The Committee decision was that we are unable to accept the Expression of Interest from the Blue Company and that it is a final decision."
It seems strange that they are still taking expressions of interest via their website!
We were kicked out last year under the false pretence that our liability insurance was not current so this makes 2 years in a row. Not bad considering we helped them get the Fair started, by promoting & performing at the first 6 Fairs! Hi Moira, It is a true shame to be blocked out under false pretenses and especially if you helped them build the event in its early days. Given the information you have supplied I would suggest that the organisers have an alternative reason or motive however it is not my place to speculate on it. I just ask you to consider if these people are behaving this way then do you really want to enjoy your hobby with them?
Be strong and you stick with what you are doing and find another outlet for your hobby, I am sure you will go from strength to strength when you associate yourself with the right people. There will be other opportunities to represent the re-enactment community in a public space.
